Last November 12th, some students of 4ºESO went to visit Altamira Caves in the Science Week. These caves are the most important and famous caves of the Paleolithic. Altamira Caves have been declared Patrimony of the Humanity by the UNESCO They are universally recognised and considered one of the most important jewels of Cantabria and, probably of Spain. Due to conservation motives, access is restricted, so visited the replica that has been made.
There, the teacher of the University of Cantabria, Mr. Julio Güémez and José A.G. Munúa explained us several of the things that the habitants of the caves used to do in the Paleolithic, and they also showed it to us.
For example, we learnt how they made fire with stones; not just any stone, but silex and mineral of iron. We also learnt how they warmed the water with stones which were warmed before in the fire, and we learnt the formulae that they used to paint. They blew the paint through a little bone or a stick.
It was very interesting because we saw it with our eyes and we discovered that they were using the physics without knowing certainly what it was.

SAN MIGUEL BREWERY
On Friday, the 27th November, the classes of 1º and 2º of Bachillerato of Nueves Valles High School went to the factory of beer of San Miguel. It was an interesting and entertaining trip. We started out at 8:30 a.m. and arrived Burgos after two hours and a half. Once we come there they showed us the factory and the processes of fermentation of the beer and the different processes of packing. After they showed the factory to us, they took us to a room where they put us a movie of the origins of the beer and its components.
Before coming back they gave us a few beers to taste them. The visit lasted approximately 2 hours and a half. At the middle of day they took us to Burgos and let us on our own until 4 a.m. to go to where we wanted and to eat something. At 4 a.m. we all met at the cathedral of Burgos, then we entered and paid a visit. At 6 a.m. we went to the coach and come back home. Definitively, it was a good trip.

ROMAN VILLA IN SALDAÑA
November 25th, pupils from 4º ESO, 1º and 2º Bachillerato went to a shool trip to Saldaña (Palencia), with the teachers of Latin and Greek.
We went by coach. It was a very cold day, and when we asked the coach driver to turn on the heating, he turned on the air conditioner
The trip took us 2 hours and the teachers played a film in the bus called “Claudio”, and it made the trip relaxing and fast.
When we arrived, a guide of the museum was waiting us. It was a museum of a “domus romana”, and it was very big. The guide showed us all the museum. He explained us everything very well, because he was very expressive when he spoke. Sometimes I thought that he wanted to laugh because he was feeling embarrased. While the guide explained, we had to fill in a notebook that the teachers gave us. This is a good way to teach the pupils how to understand the work better.
When we finished visiting the museum we went to a cafe to eat some snacks, and chat with the classmates.
Finally we returned to the coach. This time we didn’t have a film, however, we were singing in the return all the typical Spanish songs, and at half past two, we arrived at the high school and went at home.
